Our cover features a sketch of his turbine research, reproducing a document held in Belgrade’s Nikola Tesla Museum. Today, his legacy endures with Tesla, Inc., which specialises in electric vehicles, solar panels and lithium-ion batteries.

The Story Behind the Design

Be transported back to the time when inventors were the prevailing influencers, when electricity was a relatively new concept, and experimentation and discovery flowed through the misty streets. Step into the world of one of the greatest inventors and scientists of all time, Nikola Tesla.

Tesla was a Serbian-American inventor, scientist, electrical and mechanical engineer, physicist and futurist. He is best known for his notable contributions to the design of the modern alternating current (AC) electrical supply system.

The sketch reproduced on the cover of this Embellished Manuscript is of the inventor’s turbine research and is among the thousands of original documents that reside in the Nikola Tesla Museum in Belgrade, Serbia.

What’s particularly special about this sketch is that it stands as one of very few drafted by Tesla himself. The inventor rarely put his ideas down on paper, relying instead on his innate ability to visualise objects and buildings in very fine detail, using only his imagination.

Today, Tesla’s legacy endures in popular culture and technology, most notably in Tesla, Inc., which specialises in electric vehicles, solar panels and lithium-ion batteries.

Celebrate the spark of an idea in the midst of its fruition with this commemorative journal – the scientist and inventor even said himself, “Of all things I liked books best.”

Original artwork: Nikola Tesla’s turbine sketch

Era: between 1895–1912

Region: New York, USA

Product Details

Dimensions: 220 × 30 × 68 mm

Design: Tesla, Sketch of a Turbine

Series: Embellished Manuscripts Collection

Secure magnetic closure

Decorative printed paper

Removable inner tray for storage of small items

Informational bookmark

Weight: 102 g

Product code: PB5465-8 | ISBN: 9781439754658

About Paperblanks

Paperblanks works with museums, libraries, galleries and artists around the world to faithfully reproduce remarkable artwork, historic bindings and treasured manuscripts, bringing the same care and craftsmanship found in its celebrated journals to every accessory.
