sennelier-oil-pastel-cold-grey
Sennelier Oil Pastel – Cold Grey 223

Sennelier oil pastels have a unique place in art history: they were created in 1949 by Henri Sennelier at the request of Pablo Picasso, who wanted a colour that could be used on almost any surface without preparation. The result is a soft, creamy, intensely pigmented stick that still sets the standard for artists' oil pastels.

The range runs to 120 colours, including iridescent shades, giving you rich, opaque colour that blends easily under the fingers or a tool. Work on paper, card, canvas, board or wood; scratch back through layers for sgraffito effects; or dissolve the colour with a little solvent to create washes.

Because oil pastel never completely dries, finished pieces benefit from protection with Sennelier D'Artigny fixative or framing behind glass.

Key features

Artists' oil pastels first made for Picasso in 1949

Soft, creamy texture with high pigment strength

120-colour range including iridescent shades

Works on paper, card, canvas, board and wood

Blend, layer, scrape back or dissolve with solvent

Sold individually by colour number

Specifications

Brand

Sennelier

Range

Sennelier Oil Pastels

Colour

Cold Grey

Packed dimensions

68 x 10 x 10 mm

Packed weight

6.9 g

Country of origin

France

Product code

S10-223
