Angelo hog bristle varnish brushes are flat, wide brushes with natural bristle heads, designed for laying down varnish, primer, size and gesso in smooth, even coats. The natural hog bristle holds a generous load of liquid and releases it steadily, so you can work across a canvas or panel in long, consistent strokes.
Available in widths from 1 to 3 (the size number reflects the approximate width in inches), they suit everything from small panels to larger stretched canvases. They are equally useful for broad washes of thinned colour, toning grounds and general studio jobs where a sturdy, inexpensive flat brush is needed.
Keep separate brushes for varnish and for paint, and clean thoroughly with the appropriate solvent or warm soapy water straight after use to keep the bristles supple.
