Global Art Supplies White Primed Linen Stretched Canvas 18mm Deep – 16 x 20in

Linen has long been the support of choice for oil painters, prized for its strength and the lively, irregular character of its weave. These Italian-made linen canvases are stretched over 18mm-deep frames and offered in two finishes: white primed, and clear primed.

The white primed version gives a conventional bright ground that keeps colours clean and luminous. The clear primed version is sealed with a transparent primer, so the natural honey-brown tone of the linen remains visible. Many painters enjoy working directly on to that warm mid-tone, leaving areas of bare linen to show through as part of the finished image.

Both finishes suit oil and acrylic and give a more refined surface than cotton for portraits, still life and considered studio work.
