The stiffer fibres give more spring for precise strokes and move heavy oil pigments around with ease, while the shorter handle keeps you closer to the painting for greater control.

The flat head is ideal for blocking in colour, painting crisp straight edges and laying broad areas; turned on its side it produces thin lines and sharp edges. Larger sizes are perfect for background washes.
