Essdee Hard Rubber Printing Roller 150mm, Red Handle (R5)

Essdee printing rollers, or brayers, are made for inking lino, softcut and wood blocks. Each is boxed and fitted with a comfortable handle, in widths from 50mm to 200mm to suit blocks of every size.

Hard rubber rollers, with red handles, lay down a thin, even film of ink and are the usual choice for crisp detail on lino. Soft rubber rollers, with blue handles, give a little more as they roll, helping ink reach slightly uneven surfaces such as woodgrain, collagraph plates and textured blocks.

Choose a roller a little wider than the area you are inking to avoid lap marks. Clean thoroughly after each session and store so the rubber is not resting on a surface. A good roller is one of the most important tools in relief printing.
