Essdee Softcut White Printing Block 3mm – 15 x 20cm

Essdee supplies both traditional grey lino and its own Softcut printing block, so you can choose the carving surface that suits your project.

The 3.2mm grey lino is a classic printmaking surface: firm enough to hold fine detail and crisp edges, and responsive under the cutter, especially when slightly warmed. Essdee Softcut is a 3mm white block that is noticeably softer and easier to carve, making it ideal for beginners, younger printmakers and quick designs, and the white surface shows your drawing clearly.

Both are available in a range of sizes from 15 x 10cm upwards, and can be printed by hand with a baren or through a press using oil-based or water-based block printing inks. Warming grey lino gently, for example on a radiator, makes it easier to carve.
