Nitram Petits Bâtons Extra Soft Round Charcoal 6mm – Pack of 5

Nitram is a Canadian maker devoted to fine art charcoal, and its sticks are prized by artists for their consistency and rich, velvety blacks. The range covers firm 5mm sticks in H, HB and B for controlled line and tone, alongside extra-soft round bâtons in 6, 8 and 12mm for deep, dense blacks and expressive strokes.

For large-scale work there are the 25mm demi and 50mm maxi bâtons de saule and a flat charcoal block for broad tonal areas. Slim 4mm charcoal and graphite refills fit Nitram holders, and an assorted box lets you try several grades.

Powdered charcoal is ideal for toning grounds, liquid charcoal can be brushed and diluted like ink, and Fusain Aquarelle is a water-soluble charcoal that you can use dry or lift into washes.
