Global Art Supplies Gesso Primed Wooden Painting Panel 38mm Deep – 20 x 20in

These Italian-made cradled wooden panels arrive gesso primed and ready to paint, so you can start straight away without preparing a ground. The rigid wooden face gives a firm, stable surface that will not bounce under the brush, while the cradle lifts the panel off the wall in either an 18mm or a deeper 38mm profile.

A primed panel is a favourite with painters who want crisp detail, smooth glazes or vigorous knife work, as there is no give in the surface. It also takes well to mixed media, collage and drawing media, and the gesso can be lightly sanded if you prefer an even smoother finish.

Use the 18mm panels for studies, plein air sketches and framed pieces, or the 38mm panels when you want the work to hang as a self-contained object with painted or clean edges.
