Paperblanks Olive Fairy/Violet Fairy Washi Tape – Pack of 2

Add a flourish of colour and artistry to journal spreads, cards and gift wrap with this Olive Fairy/Violet Fairy washi tape set from Paperblanks.

Using authentic Japanese washi tape paper, metallic foiling and a touch of varnish for protection, our Olive Fairy and Violet Fairy washi tape set will bring a pop of colour to your bullet journal spread. This double-pack is inspired by Lang’s Fairy Books by Scottish poet Andrew Lang.

The Story Behind the Design

Andrew Lang (1844–1912) was a Scottish poet, novelist, literary critic and anthropologist, though he is best remembered as a collector of folk and fairy tales. Lang was greatly passionate about folklore, mythology and religion, and especially fascinated by mystical tales from other cultures.

Our Olive Fairy design reproduces the front cover of Lang’s Olive Fairy Book. Published in 1907, it included stories such as “The Golden-Headed Fish” and “The Prince and the Princess in the Forest.” The stories were gathered from places like Turkey, India, Denmark, Armenia and the Sudan. Here, Ford’s Olive Fairy illustration offers a botanical and almost insectile quality that gives her a sense of scientific realism as well as fey possibility.

Our Violet Fairy design reproduces the front cover of Lang’s Violet Fairy Book. Published in 1901, his Violet Fairy Book includes stories such as “The Story of the Wonderful Beggars,” “The Lute Player” and “The Princess Who Was Hidden Underground.” The stories were gathered from places like Romania, Japan, Lithuania, Portugal and Russia. Here, Ford’s Violet Fairy illustration has a classical and timeless quality, perfect for a book that continues to be loved by young and old alike.
