The Story Behind the Design

One of the newer shoes featured in our Fabulous Footwear series, the boot pictured here was originally designed in 2004 by Teresa Tarraga. This wildly ruched stiletto immediately calls to mind the image of a femme fatale and is a tempting piece of footwear for any fashionista.

The term “stiletto” was first applied to these sorts of shoes in the 1930s and was chosen for the heel’s resemblance to the long and dangerously thin stiletto dagger. The rich history of these bold fashion choices is celebrated at the Museo del Calzado in Elda, Spain, where the original boot featured on our Temptress cover is housed.
