R&F Encaustic Paint 40ml – Chrome Oxide Green

R&F Handmade Paints have been making encaustic paint in Kingston, New York, for over three decades, and their colours are among the most respected in the medium. Each cake is a blend of pure pigment, beeswax and damar resin, milled to a dense, buttery consistency with a high pigment load, so a little colour goes a long way when you melt it on the palette.

The 40ml cake is the most popular way to build an R&F palette. It is ideal for exploring a wide range of colours, for workshop and studio use, and for the more costly pigments where you only need a modest amount.

Melt the paint on a heated palette, brush it onto a rigid, absorbent support such as a gessoed or encaustic-ready panel, then fuse each layer with a heat gun or torch. Colours can be mixed with R&F Encaustic Medium for translucent glazes, built up into thick textures, scraped back or layered over collage. Prices follow R&F's series system, which reflects the cost of each pigment.
