Raphaël Oleo Hog Bristle Round Brush, Series 362 – Size 6

Raphaël is a French brushmaker whose history goes back to 1793, and Oleo is its range of hog bristle brushes for oil painting, as the name suggests.

Hog bristle is the traditional fibre for oils: stiff, resilient and naturally split at the tips, so it picks up thick colour and moves it around the canvas with ease. It is equally useful with heavy-bodied acrylic.

The Oleo series include rounds (Series 362), flats (3630) and long flats (363), from size 2 to 14 or 18. Use rounds for drawing in and detail, flats for blocking in and crisp edges, and long flats for longer, more flexible strokes. Larger Oleo flats are available in our Raphaël large brushes range. Clean thoroughly with solvent and then soap and water after each session.
