Raphaël Sepia Long-Handled Short Flat Brush, Series 8740 – Size 12

Raphaël is a French brushmaker whose history goes back to 1793, and Sepia is one of its brush ranges, made in both short-handled and long-handled versions.

The short-handled series are suited to watercolour, gouache and ink: rounds (Series 8500), liners (8510 and 8514), long liners (8520), flats (8530), filberts (8540), angled brushes (8560, sized in inches) and fans (8570). The long-handled series – rounds (864), short flats (8740), fans (8745) and cat’s tongues (8747) – are aimed at acrylic and oil work at the easel, where the extra handle length lets you stand back and judge the whole painting.

Several Sepia series are being discontinued, so the sizes listed here are available while stocks last. Clean after every session, reshape the heads and leave to dry so they keep their shape.
