Sennelier Gouache Binding Medium – 200ml

For painters who like to make their own materials, Sennelier offers the binders and raw ingredients used in its own workshops. Ready-made binding mediums for oil, watercolour, gouache, egg tempera and acrylic let you turn Sennelier pure pigments into paint with the right consistency.

Traditional materials include rabbit skin glue and fish glue for sizing and gesso, gum arabic for watercolour, dammar resin for varnishes and mediums, beeswax for wax mediums and encaustic, lactic casein, methylcellulose and graphite powder.

These materials reward a little research and experimentation; follow traditional recipes, test on scrap before committing to a finished work, and label anything you prepare. Many are the same ingredients artists have relied on for centuries, prepared to the standard Sennelier uses for its own colours.
