Sennelier Egg Tempera 21ml – Indian Yellow Hue 517

Sennelier has made artists’ colours in Paris since 1887, when Gustave Sennelier opened his shop on the Quai Voltaire, across the Seine from the Louvre. The family firm supplied painters such as Cézanne and Gauguin, and its colours are still prized for their intensity and depth. Sennelier is one of very few makers to offer ready-made egg tempera in tubes.

Egg tempera is one of the oldest painting techniques, used for icons and panel paintings long before oil. Sennelier’s version is made with real egg and can be thinned with water. It dries quickly to a velvety, matt finish and is ideal for fine, layered brushwork on rigid, gessoed panels, building tone through many thin hatched strokes.

The 21ml tube is the standard size, covering a carefully chosen palette of traditional and modern pigments, together with a tempera medium for adjusting consistency.
