Sennelier has made artists’ colours in Paris since 1887, when Gustave Sennelier opened his shop on the Quai Voltaire, across the Seine from the Louvre. The family firm supplied painters such as Cézanne and Gauguin, and its colours are still prized for their intensity and depth. Sennelier Artist Ink is a richly coloured, shellac-based drawing ink.
The shellac binder gives the ink brilliant, transparent colour and makes it water-resistant once dry, so you can layer washes without disturbing what lies beneath. Use it with dip pens, brushes and airbrush, dilute it with water or the dedicated thinner for lighter tints, and mix colours together freely. Shake well before use.
The 250ml bottle is the economical refill size for studios, schools and anyone who gets through a favourite colour quickly; decant into a smaller bottle for everyday use.
