Rive Gauche is Sennelier’s fine oil colour, named after the Left Bank of the Seine where the company’s Paris shop still stands. It is designed to put good, reliable oil colour within reach of students, beginners and painters who simply use a lot of paint, without the price of the extra-fine range.
The 40ml tube is the everyday size: enough paint for several canvases, compact enough for a paint box. The palette covers essential earths, cadmium hues, modern organic pigments and metallic gold, silver, bronze and copper, so you can build a complete working palette from the range.
Rive Gauche colours mix freely with each other and with Sennelier extra-fine oils, and can be used with the usual oil painting mediums, solvents and varnishes. Thin them with solvent for underpainting and glazes, or use them straight from the tube for confident, textured brushwork and knife work.
