Sennelier Turner Retouching Varnish – 500ml

A good varnish protects a finished painting from dust and grime and evens out the sheen across the surface. Sennelier offers picture varnishes in gloss, satin and matt, an extra-fine painting varnish, and traditional resin varnishes such as pure mastic and 33% dammar.

Retouching varnishes, including Turner and the alcohol-based version, are applied thinly to a painting that is touch dry, to revive sunken colours and give temporary protection before final varnishing. The isolating varnish creates a barrier layer, and the 400ml aerosols give a fine, even coat for quick finishing.

Final varnish should only be applied once the oil paint is thoroughly dry, which may take six months or more for thick layers. Apply varnish in thin, even coats with a soft, wide brush, working in a dust-free room.
