Meet The Wren — Write Off: the infinitely refillable writing pen built to rescue disposable pens from their fate — and turn them into something better. Each year, around 9 billion pens are discarded worldwide, destined to sit in landfill for centuries. After years of designing pens meant to last a lifetime, I couldn’t ignore all those little plastic pens headed for the ground — forgotten, wasted, and packed with potential.
It was time to close the loop.
Over the past year, we’ve partnered with schools and organisations to intercept pen waste before it hits the bin. That reclaimed plastic is cleaned, sorted, and transformed into the vibrant lids you see here — each one proof that trash can become treasure.
Crafted in collaboration with the brilliant Brothers Make, every cap is chipped, injection-moulded, and hand-finished. No two are ever the same — each cap is a tiny creative rebellion in colour and material, as individual as the ideas it will help you write.
This is more than a pen.
It’s a circular-design statement, a quiet protest against throwaway culture, and a joyful celebration of creativity — from what we make to what we choose to reuse.
